A lie in the sky

A jet plane
scratches the sky
A fingernail drawn
A-cross
God's great chalkboard
Lie

A kingdom of clouds
Silver linings of stainless steel
Packed and stacked so
Tight with promise
They peel

What's real
Is the sun's burn,
The pink and painful
Lessons learned

The magician disappeared
Leaves the sinner's stain
Burnt and broken skin
Cells and seashells to blame.
